Wintermix Wins On Turf At Colonial Downs!
|
Wintermix easily outdistanced the heavy favorites to win the 1 ¼ mile allowance race for 3yr old and up fillies and mares by 1 3/4 lengths.
Wintermix has now won two of her first 4 starts this year with the promise of many more to come!
Congratulations to Trainer Rodney Jenkins, Jockey Ryan Fogelsonger and EQB racing strategist and Vice President, Patti Miller.

Mysterious Ridge Wins 1st Start!
|
Mysterious Ridge won convincingly in his debut race at Pimlico last Friday June 3rd, finishing the 1-1/16 mile allowance race on dirt by an easy 2-¼ lengths.
His whole performance from paddock to finish was calm and professional…remarkable for a debutante and under less than favorable track conditions.
This win come on the heels of Whetstone’s win at the same distance on Thursday…a remarkable week for Houyhnhnm Stables, trainer Rodney Jenkins and Jockey JZ Santana. Congratulations to all. |
Houyhnhnm’s Whetstone Wins Long at Pimlico!
|
In a brilliantly run race, Whetstone won against winners at the allowance level in yesterday's grueling 1 1/16 mile $28,000 7th race on turf.
Running in 7th place at the ¾ mark, jockey JZ Santana, following the pre-race strategy, moved Whetstone wide and picked up 4 places by the stretch. Effortlessly overtaking the heavy favorites in the stretch, Whetstone used his long efficient stride to get the way wide come from far behind win by a length and a half.
Congratulations to Trainer Rodney Jenkins, Jockey Jozbin Santana, and Houyhnhnm’s “race strategist” Patti Miller. |

Mr. Pat Wins at Laurel Park!
EQB and Houyhnhnm Stables' 5 year-old colt Mr. Pat battled both the fierce competition and a muddy, rain-soaked track Wednesday to come out in front in this 1 1/8 mile $27,000 race.
Mr. Pat settled inside and off of a quick early pace, advanced along the rail leaving the far turn, bumped with Colonial Inca entering the lane and dueled inside from the head of the stretch. Mr. Pat valiantly pressed on and continued to exchange bumps and brushes with his rival and got the bob in an extended drive to finish out in front of Colonial Inca by a nose.
Be Wild Again blasts through the competition in his 1st start at Aqueduct!
EQB and Houyhnhnm Stables' 3 year-old colt Be Wild Again easily won his 1st start today at Aqueduct. He finished 3 lengths in front in this $41,000, 6 furlong NY-Bred Allowance race.
After being slammed in a collision at the starting gate, Be Wild Again, seemingly unphased, dueled in 22.8, 46.2 at the start of the race. At the final turn, Be Wild Again was so far ahead that Jockey Norberto Arroyo Jr. began to relax him at the last 16th of a mile! Even with all the obstacles, Be Wild Again easily won the race with a time of 1:11.53 — only 2/10ths of a second slower than the fastest 6 furlong open allowance race for older horses of the day!
Congratulations to trainer Billy Turner and Jockey Norberto Arroyo Jr.

In his 1st start, Morph Nabs 2nd Place at Belmont!
 |
| Houyhnhnm Stables' "Morph" took 2nd place at Belmont in his 1st start. | |
 |
In his dramatic debut at Belmont’s second race this past Sunday, June 27th, Houyhnhnm Stables’ Morph held the lead and set the fractions at 22 1/5, 45, 56 3/5 before narrowly missing the win.
Despite running on a deep rail while the far more experienced winner came up on the harder, faster crown, Morph beat the next horse by five lengths in what turned out to be the day’s fastest race (against a field of owners and trainers one broadcaster called a “Who’s Who of Racing”). In fact, the race was 2 1/2 seconds faster than the older horses ran at that distance, faster than Belmont's featured stakes race that day.
Hands down, it was a highly promising debut for the robust colt, one that bodes very well for his career. Morph is just one of many promising young thoroughbreds being offered in the
Houyhnhnm Stables LLC 2004.
